One substantial cost Orbit needed to tackle was their largely paper-based tenancy sign up process. This admin-heavy task involved housing officers and tenants filling in multiple forms which then had to be manually entered into Orbit’s housing management system back at the office.

Our solution was an app – Orbit Move – which addressed a lot of the cost and efficiency issues Orbit wanted to overcome and also met tenant’s expectations of a modern housing organisation.

Between January 2016 and May 2017:

  • 4,581 applications were processed digitally
  • 4,182 (91.3%) were completed by the tenant with no assistance from Orbit
  • 2,967 (91.4%) of successful applications were completed by tenants alone
